Minerals and territory
Gold, silver, copper and iron: the riches of the mountain and the bond with Valsesia and Monte Rosa.
Parco Minerario di Kreas · Alagna Valsesia
In the heart of Monte Rosa among gold, water and memory.
Going deeper
On the Valsesia side of Monte Rosa, the Kreas mining site tells centuries of history: Fabbrica di San Lorenzo, the discovery of minerals, industrial archaeology and the Alpine culture of those who worked these mountains.
It is a route that combines nature, memory and ingenuity: from water-powered mills to galleries carved into the rock.
The site
Just outside Alagna Valsesia, at the foot of Monte Rosa, the Park unfolds in the “gold quarter”: a place where the memory of miners and Fabbrica di San Lorenzo form the heart of the auriferous complex.
Here the Alpine landscape and industrial archaeology meet in an immersive experience designed for families, schools and history enthusiasts.
The gateway to a hidden world of rock, labour, ingenuity and memory.
Engaging for every audience
The Park is the gateway to the entire mining complex. The exhibition in Fabbrica di San Lorenzo tells the history, evolution and the system of galleries and cableways linked to the processing of gold-bearing ore. Please note: the gallery route is not accessible with strollers and not accessible for visitors with motor disabilities.
The production heart
The production heart for processing gold-bearing ore: an ancient industrial complex where the Kreas mining system takes shape and story.
Inside the Fabbrica
Testimony, tools, historical documentation and mills: an itinerary among minerals, territory and hydraulic machines.
Gold, silver, copper and iron: the riches of the mountain and the bond with Valsesia and Monte Rosa.
The power of water and the machinery — including those linked to the Monte Rosa Gold Mining Company and 1885 — tell the story of Alpine engineering.
Clear displays designed for families, schools and anyone wanting to explore mining history. The gallery route is not accessible with strollers or for visitors with motor disabilities.
Under the mountain
The deep breath of the mountain: a narrative journey into the depths, towards the galleries — including that of Santo Spirito — where darkness, rock and memory become experience.
